Prepare for an Art School Scholarship
Art Explorer Post 407 has helped many high school art students prepare for scholarships to prestigious art colleges. In fact, there has never been a high school senior that has been a member of Art Post 407, who has not also received art college scholarship offers.
Art Post 407 help young artists develop portfolios for scholarship applications, as well as experience in perfecting their portfolio presentations and scholarship interviews. Expert staff from the Columbus College of Art and Design are on hand each meeting to instruct members as to what students must do to get into art school, as well as what art school will be like for them once they get there.
Students also have an opportunity to create works based on live models in period costumes. At most of our meetings, we have a professional model dress in a wide range of customes, including Revolutionary War figures, knights in armor, gowned renaissance courtiers, and even story book fantasy characters, such as fairies and warrior heroes. This gives students a chance to capture the way different kinds of clothes drape and wear on the human form, and add distinguishing pieces to their portfolio collections.
